I wish I could say I have lost a great amount of weight but I haven't. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

I have only lost about 44 pounds in a year. You have done so much better. Please let me know how you are doing it.

It took me a year to lose 115 pounds. It's been just over 3 years and I'm down a total of 149. At 51, I weigh 5 pounds less than I did at 18!

Not sure if you're interested in numbers from male bandsters, but here goes:

Yesterday marked nine months since I had my surgery. I've lost 118 pounds so far. My old pants were 46-48 inch waist. Now I'm wearing 34 inch waist pants. I started with size 3XL and 4XL shirts. Today I bought size Large shirts. Am I happy? Beyond words. :)

Banded April 4, 2011. I have gone from 304 to 200! That is 104 pounds in 5 months. I work hard at it though and do not miss any workouts. I have gone from a size 26 to a size 14, my rings have gone from a 11 1/2 to a 8 3/4. and my feet have gone from a men's 9 1/2 EEE workout shoe to a women s 9 1/2 normal size! I am off my blood pressure and cholesterol medicine and have no more back or foot aches! Forty more to go...

I've lost 53 lbs. That includes my two week pre op diet so it's been 13 weeks which averages to about 4 lbs a week!

Five months and 39 kilograms (86lb according to unit convertor on iphone.) No wonder I feel so good! Aiming for another 12 kg (26lb) by Christmas and then I will decide just how far I want to/can go with this. Either way, I am going to look awesome at my son's wedding next April!

I'm about 8 months out and I've lost just over 61 pounds (83 from my heaviest but still not at my goal of about 10 lbs a month). I averaged around 2 lbs a week for the first 6 months - then hit a plateau (and some stressful events - including death of a close relative). I fought the same 3-5 lbs for almost 2 months - totally frustrating! However, I finally broke that plateau and made it into the 230s yesterday. Hang in there and TRY not to compare yourself to others. We all have different journeys - even if we are using the same tool.

5 weeks post op and I have lost 33.5 pounds. Wish I had met the band years ago. My goal is 200 pounds in 2 years. At this rate I should make it. It's a lot of work, but so worth it.

Good Luck Everyone!

Trish :P

I had my surgery on July 28/2011.

Lost 7lbs pre-op.

Lost 10 lbs. since.

That is not super fast but I am ok with it. My weight drops off in chunks. I'll lose 5-7lbs in 10 days and then not lose anything for a couple of weeks. Haven't lost anything since getting on solids but that is ok. The kids are in school and once my port site infection finishes clearing up I will be able to start working out. Looking forward to that and getting the weight moving again.

I am up a couple of pounds today but I'm not counting it due to PMS. rolleyes.gif

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
