Hi all!

My name is Kristina and I was banded August 24th. Starting weight was 239 and I am down to 225 so 14 lbs. as of today! I am very excited about my life! These first two weeks have had their ups and downs. I have been extremely sore and very weak but I think that it could be partly due to I am having to take 40 mg. injectable blood thinner (Lovanex) twice a day for a month after surgery :( Just so ready to be able to get my life started again!!

Hope you all are having a nice evening!!

Kristina

How are the injections going? I wasnt to thrilled to learn that once i have to do the surgery I also have to use Lovenox. Are your needles already prefilled or do you draw it up yourself

Hi!

Thanks all for the kind words! And yes, the needles are luckily pre-filled and quite easy to give! Just twice a day in my belly. I am having to do them for an entire month after my surgery (2 weeks left!). They do make me feel a little weak & tired, but better that than a blood clot! Good luck to you and let me know if you need any advice! :D

Hi congratulations! Why are you both having to do the injections of

Lovenox? I hadn't heard of anyone doing them before. I know that they are for blood clots but was it because of problems that you had pre-surgery or just a precaution?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
