Hi everyone - I'm three weeks out of my surgery and I feel great! I've lost a good amount of weight and am scared when I start eating that I will gain it back because they say it is common to gain when you start eating because you don't have a fill yet. There isn't any support here its a small town, so feeling a little lonely.

hello, welcome to the lbt community. congrats on your success so far. don't worry about if you gain some weight when you start eating solids again. you have not had a fill yet, but will soon. your body is adjusting to everything, the band, having just liquids and will have to adjust to solids again. just watch what you eat and don't over do it.

I won't have a fill for three weeks. So nervous about that. I did find a cookbook for people with lapband surgery. So that is a start.

If your weight loss slows or you gain a couple pounds, try your hardest not to let it discourage you. It discouraged me, and I fell off the wagon for a bit because of it.

Add me if you want. I'm a couple weeks behind you and in the small town delimma as well! If you have an iPhone the Lap Band app has a ton of free recipes! I've set at the same exact weight for three days now, starting to get slightly discouraged! I know I haven't has a fill and there is going to be ups and downs !

Welcome Carla. I bet I'm from a smaller town than you. How about 200 people? If it wasn't for this forum, I wouldn't have any real world information at all.

My hospital and doctor are 150 miles away. I get banded next Monday and I'm ready to get this over.

Best of luck, you won't have any trouble making friends, this is a great place to be.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
