Anyone else have the 15cc band and how many fills till restiction?

Recommended Posts

I have the 15cc band and have really no restiction. I can eat what I did before the surgery and as much. I have had the band almost 4 months now and have lost little weight. I have had 4 fills and giong in for another. I know after my 3rd fill I had 6cc in the band. I forgot to ask after the 4th. I'd like to know how many cc's people had with the large(15cc) band had before they noticed a differance or felt restiction. Please let me know.

I am at 9cc in my 14cc band. I had no issues before I got my last fill, but now I have to be careful how fast I eat and I must chew well. I seem to get stuck every few days. Also no more beef for me. It does not like my band. I have had 5 fills to get to this point. As for eating to much, it is all about self control. The band is a tool to help you, but you have to work with it and cut back. I eat every two hours during the day due to hunger, but it is small amounts and mostly Protein. Good luck on your journey

You really can't compare your amount of fill to someone else's. Everyone is different. My friend and I both have 10cc bands. I have 5.8, she has 7.0. She can eat way more than I can.

My doctor said most people feel restriction around 1/2 of the capacity of your band... But again, like Cindy said, everyone is so different. I have a 14 cc band with no fill(I'm 5 weeks out from surgery) and I already have decent restriction and I'm losing. I have an appointment in 3 weeks for a fill and will get one... But I'm hoping that will put me in my green zone for a while. Who knows though. As of now, I can eat whatever I want just about 1/2 as much as I use to. I could probably keep eating if I wanted to but I just listen to my body and eat slowly. I stop when I'm satisfied... Not "full".

Hopefully you'll get there soon!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
