I was told @ my Dr visit on thursday that I can start adding regular food to my meals. The question I have is since I don't have any Fluid in my band how will I know when enough is enough without doing damage to my self or the band. I asked the nurse if there is a portion amount I should start with & she said you'll know when it's time. Will I know when it"s time?

I have to disagree with your nurse. Without any fills you may not "know when it's time." By the time I was up to solid food all the intial swelling- and thus some restriction- was gone. I could have eaten anything- I didn't but I could have. I have been told fish is a good start- it's flaky. I would stay away from real fiberous veggies like brocolli. Good luck! You'll do fine!

You are supposed to be eating 3-4 oz Protein, 1/2 cup veggies and if needed 1/4 cup starch. So i just put that on my plate (usually I don't do the starch though) and just it that and walk away. Nothing else. Then you will be sure youre not pushing your limit

I agree with Jess's post... That's what I have been doing for 10 months and the results have been family fabulous! I will add.... I have a calorie counter in my phone and record everything I put in my mouth....even a grape.....LOL. ok I admit it...I am obsessive abou it but I WILL succeed!

Yes what Jess said is correct and if 3 to 4 oz. Is not filling u can try 5 but that will be your guideline so stick to those options and stay focused and you will do fine.

My doctor says 1/2 cup of Protein. 1/2 cup of veggies and then if you're still hungry you can have another 1/2 cup of protein, veggies or fruit. Not everyone knows when enough is enough... So if I were you, I'd measure my food. :-) good luck! I was nervous eating my first meal, but you'll be fine.

I totally disagree with the nurse. In a perfect world, you'd know when it was time to stop eating, but most of us didn't have restriction post-op until we'd been filled, a few times. My instructions were 4 oz. of Protein, 1/2 cup of veggies, and then if you're still hungry, up to 1/2 cup of grains. That meal 3 times a day.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
