Hi I was banded yesterday myself. I'm feeling just like you, don't want to do anything but lay around and sleep myself. Don't know if stomach is gas pains or just plain ole pain from having my surgery. My doctor told me I would feel like this for a few days and told me to get some rest. I try to walk a little around the house. I'm sure things will get better for us. My stomach feels like it weighs a ton right now.

Hi everyone,

I was banded on Sept. 1st too! I'm feeling a litle sore and am having some gas pains, but haven't taken the pains meds so it's not too bad! I haven't been drinking as much as I can because of the gas so I'm hungry! I was surprised to feel hunger. Anyone else feeling this?

Stacy

So, this is day 2 post op. Felling better today. Gas pains still there. I had a really good sleep last night. I think that helped a lot. It was nice to be back in my own bed. I was a little hungry last night and had some Tomato Soup. Working on a Protein Shake this morning and not really feeling hungry at all. Anyone else feeling scared to eat? I don't want to over do it and get nauseated. Took a shower this morning. ahhhh. The only pain I am having is in the port area and going from a sitting to standing position and vice/versa. Thanks for all your thoughts everyone! :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
