Hi Elena,

I'm doing well, thanks. So far I have lost 39kg and am feeling great. Now that the weather is warming up, I am really looking forward to getting out and exercising even more, although I discovered this weekend that the magpies are nesting already, which is a real pain when I am out cycling.

Would love to hear any food selection tips you have, especially for eating out as my husband and I are quite active on the rock n roll dance scene which, while great exercise, also involves a lot of eating out with friends!

Cheers

Tracey

Hey Tracey,

39kg to date that is really good!!

i hate magpie breading season. when i was a kid mum painted eyes on the back of my helmet so i wouldnt get swooped lol. they other option i had was waving a stick over my head on the way home from school. good for your arm muscles lol.

I eat out quite alot with friends so i tend to go for Entrees. some places they are quite big and other places thier Entrees are so small they dont even fill up a lap band patient.

i find all my friends and family are quite happy to eat my left overs if i get a main lol. its annoying some times because the dishes on the entree menu arnt that good and there is always something you want more on the mains. i try and go for something that is still healthy and something that cant get stuck (i find beef and pork are really hard for me to digest).

Im lucky that i know when to stop before i get the band pain and have to throw up. what about you?

Swing dancing lots loads of fun i love that period. i learnt a little bit of it for a few school plays but thats about it. i love all the singer of swing especially ella fitzgerald and frank sinatra (thanks to my nanna)

if you want to email me privatly my email is elena343@hotmail.com

thanks

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
