cheryl2586 3,053 Posted September 9, 2011 mac and cheese is not a good mushie food and neither are potatoes you need Protein like refried beens, cottage cheese, creamy Soups. Do not eat mushie carbs they are not the answer.
Corrigan 75 Posted September 9, 2011 Try a defrosted meatball blended with a little spaghetti sauce and Pamrisian cheese. It shouldn't have too many calories, and really sounds good. Go to Google and enter WLS recipies and you should get a wealth of ideas. Best of luck to you.
Carolg903 0 Posted September 9, 2011 Hmmm....hope this doesn't post twice, my laptop is wigging out... Don't get discouraged! Sounds like you are doing great! I am only 3 days post op and am sure I will get to the "I want something solid" phase. Do you have a scale? Weigh yourself and see how much you've already lost, that might be a great motivator. Sanction is right, you need Protein mushy food, not carbs, that will help you feel full and hold your hunger at bay. Good luck, you can do this!
StewsHunnyBunny 2 Posted September 9, 2011 I have blended just about everything to see what works and what don't. smoothies made me happiest. In fact.. I may have to have one of those for dinner tonight. Cantaloup/blueberry and yogurt smoothie sounds good. I am still getting used to the amount I can eat. I "feel" like I want to eat ALLOT.. but that is not what I "can" eat and not what I know I "will" eat. I try to be a good girl!

CNP28 1 Posted September 10, 2011 When i started the mushy food stage it was the 1st and only time my surgeon would allow me to have mashed potatoes. So although it's not the best choice as you progress, it will be fine for the 1st few days of your mushy food stage. I was also allowed cream of wheat, thinned cream Soups, sugar free pudding, plus the Protein Shakes. I'm just getting to start soft solids. Hang in there, it gets easier. I was going crazy when i was only on Soup broth and Protein shakes, so i know how you feel. I had an appt. with my surgeon on Wednesday and i asked him about refried Beans because i have seen that posted on here a lot. He said he does not recommend them, especially from restaurants because they make them with lard. It's your choice but i'm gonna stay away from the refried beans.
