I was told 3-4 hours before bedtime. This ensures that the food isprettywell digested, willhelp with acidreflux, and that it won't just be sitting in your tummy all night.

But a set time is not goodfor everyone. 7 would not work for me since I usually go to bedaround 3am. I would be a starvin marvin!!

I as a rule do not eat past 6:30 or 7 and am successful at it most of the time. I try to clean the kitchen right after we finish so I won't be tempted to eat anymore.

3 hours before bedtime is usually around 7 PM for most people. If you don't go to bed until 1 AM, you can eat until 10 PM. The point is to digest your food BEFORE you go to bed so it doesn't stay in your pouch and cause swelling which causes you to be unable to eat in the morning. The reason unbanded people should do this is the same. The food will sit in your stomach overnight, which is not real good for your metabolism.

Not soon enough... I'm a nocturnal (night) person so I'm still hungry late at night and I have to be really careful and stay busy and far away from the kitchen!

I too was told by the nutritionist to stop eating three hours before I go to bed. I am usually in bed (even tho not always sleeping) by 10 so I dont eat after 7. Sometimes, if I get really hungry and end up awake a bit longer, I will allow myself 1/2 C of Jello.< /p>

I always have a cup of hot tea (Sleepytime) before bed, it helps me sleep and cleans out my pouch. And I have nothing after about 7:30, going to bed at 11:00....

My sister has went from around 200 pounds to 159 pounds and it was all becasue she made a rule and stuck to it to never eat after 7pm and OFTEN not eat after 4pm.

She had done everything, including intense working out for over 2 years..and NOTHING worked for her..

Then in the last 6 months.. BOOM, she is skinny and She says the ONLY thing she did different (she still works out) is the stop eating at night..

We are extrememly close in case your wondering about the credibility of her story.. lol

It's better for me! If I stop eating at 7 I won't get reflux. If I don't, I am almost certainly going to get reflux. Yucky horrible reflux!

I'm with Penni, however, this is actually a very serious question for obese folks. I now have Barrett's Esophagitis (long story, but I have precancerous cells on my esoph that don't always eventually lead to cancer.) But I'm sure I caused the problem by eating too much too late, then laying down with all that food backed up in my stomach into my esophagus. So it's best to stop eating 3-4 hours before you lay down, even for a nap.

And who else is tired of trying to spell esophagus?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
