Hello loves I would love to get to know you

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! My name is Lauren, I have been significantly overweight literally my entire life. I am currently 260lbs and i am looking to lose about 135lbs, I know it wont be easy but its worth the efforts! I am so excited to start this journey. Fortunately my insurance does cover the surgery but unfortunately I have to be on a documented diet for 6 months prior, so right now I am doing everything in my power o stay focus and not lose sight of my goals and ambitions. I am 21, fun, loving, outgoing, smart and I find myself to be extremely funny. I am not cocky, just confident. I work full time and right now I am taking some tome off of school to focus on myself and by the end of this process I would like to accomplish a few goals: I would like my status to change from single to in a relationship, I would like to be back in school, I would love to be 136lbs lighter, I need to run a marathon at some point, and I would love love love to go into any clothing store and be able to buy something. :) I am a very open person and I would absolutely love to meet new people who understand what I am going through and what is awaiting in my future so feel free to say hi!!!!!!!!

Welcome ti the club Lauren. U will probably meet a lot of people who can relate to what u are going through.. im a lot older than you 11 years. I had the surgery seven months ago. I do have to say this the band alone wont make you lose weight. You are going to exercise and watch what you eat..

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
