How long is everyone waiting to go back to work?

Recommended Posts

I am being banded on the 6th of sept. I requested 4 to 6 weeks off work. I know its a long time but i work in a grocery store in the deli department . Actually the specialty cheese shop. I do lots of heaving lifting on a daily basis and my employer will not let me work with lift restrictions so looks like i get a nice long paid vacation. just thought i would add my 2 sence. hehe

Hey Jess, my surgery was on 8/23/11 - I went into work on 8/26/11. It was actually good to get out of the house. I also took the same pain medicine as you. I will say I only lasted 4 hours, I got tired pretty quick. Today is 1 week post op and its the best I have felt. OK other than the gas pains! What is everyone doing about this?? I started creamy Soups today and think its the milk products that are getting me. I also had an EAS shake for Breakfast. Whats the deal? I am off Clear Liquids today and have different things to drink and my stomach is hating it!

Newbie,

Thanks, you just gave me some hope to make it to Thursday...I have an EAS shake waiting for me!! My stomach is hating everything I am "allowed" right now...and everything is sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello, and broth. For the gas pains, I agree with most people moving is the big thing and Gas X strips help.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
