pb/fill advice

Recommended Posts

This week I've had real trouble with getting stuck. I've not really had much experience with it except for occassionally eating too fast in the mornings. But monday night I tried to eat some hamburger helper (which I didn't want, but I was too tired to fix me a seperate dinner) I ate about 1/4 of a cup. Got stuck...but then it wouldn't go away, I kept slimming and I ended up throwing it up. Not just a little, but like all. I still have the spots on my face from where this happened. Then just a little while ago I was eating a chicken kabob with onions and peppers. It wasn't dry, and seemed to be working fine. Then I got stuck. I though...well just stop eatting...get up and walk around and it would be fine. I slimmed a few minutes, maybe 2-3 and it came back up. I'm rather worried now, since I am scheduled for my first fill next friday. I had NO restriction and now all the sudden I'm getting stuck and worse, not just pb but throwing it up. I've been working out really hard this week, maybe that is causing some swelling and hince the sudden restriction? I'm worried that it might be a bad idea to get a fill with this happening? Anyone else had this reaction to working out hard? Or had this happening in general?

Is it around that time of the month for you? For me, and several other ladies that I've seen posted on this forum, we are usually a little tighter during our cycle.

No actually its just after. I'm going to concentrate on eatting slower. Thought I thought I was. Sticking to mushies for a bit too...nothing too hard like steak/hamburger or chicken for a day or too. Hopefully it won't happen again. I'm really wondering if it doesn't have something to do with the massive exercise effort I've been doing. 6 hours of cardio and 2 hours of weight lifting in the last 4 days and I'm feeling it right now. I know I retain alot of Water when I lift weights, and I'm retaining now...so maybe it is similiar to retaining water when its that time of month? I've actually gained 2lbs this week, and i think that is water.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
