Protein Drinks - which ones?

Recommended Posts

Isopure is pretty good. I haven't tried the others. Good luck with everything.

Isopure seems to be an acquired taste. When I had my surgery I had the Protein Shake Unjury. I tried all of the flavors and the chocolate Splendor was the best. It has 20 grams of Protein per serving. I however wanted to get as much protein as possible so I actually double my scoop per serving on Meal Replacements. you can get it on unjury.com. Good luck on Monday :)

Did your doctor say the Protein had to be clear? I was only allowed clear broth but the Protein Shakes did not have to be clear and could even be made with fat free milk. NO fruit. I would get a confirmation. Premier ready to drink chocolate Protein Shake tastes very good and is very thin (160 cal. 30 g protein). Good price at costco.< /p>

For my 2 week liquid diet before surgery I used the Bariatric Advantage chocolate flavored drink which I thought was very good. I mixed it with Water or skim milk. The milk gave it a little more flavor and made it slightly thicker.

For my first week post-op, I am using Isopure. The flavor is Strawberries and Cream. Mixed with Water it doesn't taste bad at all and it is filling which is good.

For my post-op second week, I just plan on using whatever I have leftover from the two mixes above. No sense in going out and buying something new since I like both of them.

I've tried a few different ones. unjury, Boost high protien, Glycerna (for diabetes), Atkins. I agree with honk. The best one I've had so far is Premier Nutrition Protien drink. http://www.premiernutrition.com/

I like the fact that it contains 30g of protien per 11oz container. You can find them at costco for around $24 for 18 drinks. The only problem is the limited flavors. costco only has chocolate. Their website has vanilla and strawberry, but I haven't tried them.

I also keep some Unflavored Unjury powder around to add to recipes like Soup, Chili, etc...

I like Isopure and they have the clear drink or the smoothies. The smoothies taste the best, but I added crystal light into the ice tea drink

and it helped a lot.

For chocolate I add a few slices of frozen banana and about a teaspoon and half of peanut butter....oh so good. With Vanilla.....one scoop whey, 2 frozen strawberries, 1 tablespoon Jello sugar free cheesecake pudding mix and the about ice, milk and whey. OH SO GOOD! :D:D:D:D

I absolute hate Isopure. It was a total waste of money for me because I poured it out. I have been drinking the Muscle Milk Protein Water for my "clear liquid" days. My favorite flavor is grape. I found it at the local Vitamin Shoppe.< /p>

I like Unjury that you mix yourself. I really never liked any of the pre-made shakes like EAS, Atkins, etc..I buy Syntrax Nectar powders. I like the chocolate Truffle, Roadside Lemonade, and Fuzzy Navel. I add some Crystal Light to the Lemonade and Fuzzy Navel to intensify the flavor.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
