I had a robotic hysterectomy last yr and only had four small holes now I am being told that it like a bikini cut and from whar I hear it takes longer to heal is this true? Mscarter007 0 Posted August 25, 2011 No its not true. Typically you will have anywhere from 4-6 incisions and they will all be less than an inch in length. The largest incision is at the port site and is usually double the size of the others. My surg put my port and the incision for it inside my belly button. The rest of my incisions look like mosquito bite marks.
screeden 21 Posted August 26, 2011 i have 5 incisions, one is bigger though, about an inch. the rest are half inch. my surgeon went through a previous scar i had for my gallbladder removal, instead of making new ones. Love him

Most of these are no more than one to two inches in length. These are used for placement of cameras and surgical equipment. If necessary, a larger incision may be made, up to five or more inches in some cases. This is rare, as it usually only happens during a complication or if the Lap-Band is being placed during another procedure, such as a tubal ligation or other surgery.
