FryeMama 0 Posted August 25, 2011 I'm on the coast of Virginia!! Any suggestions on what to eat if the power goes out for a few days? It will be so easy to eat the processed foods like Snacks and chips. Of course we have a grill to cook our meats as they thaw out. Ideas would be greatly appreciated! I was thinking the same as MelissaNY, Protein Shakes (I use Water with mine if I don't use premade ones), nuts, canned Beans, canned Soup (ones that might be palatable cold) what about beef raviolis? That is if you can handle that "pasta part", canned chicken, tuna, meats, Peanut Butter, almond butter, veggies...use your imagination and be safe!! I'll be thinking of you! Short and Chunky 230 Posted August 25, 2011 This is Melinda from Florida...Hey, no problem - eat the freezer - all that stuff cooked on the grill would be great - also, there is many vegies (squash and Zucchini) that are great grilled. Tomatoes and carrots don't need to be kept cold. Of course all the canned stuff that was already mentioned. I am not big on the Protein Shakes especially with Water (yuk). Make sure you have lots of Water ! We will be thinking about you and please be safe. Melinda
Jess55 97 Posted August 25, 2011 I'm in NY and I got a hurricane preparedness letter at my door today. Really? I'm sure it will fizzle out by the time it gets that far north. Who knows though in 3 days or so I could just have to eat my words. LOL
TracieR 88 Posted August 25, 2011 I'm hoping it fizzles out too! We are right on the Water on Long Island. Up untl today I was thinking it wasn't going to be a big deal but now I guess I should do some preparation. Stay safe everyone!

Who knows though in 3 days or so I could just have to eat my words. LOL Be careful. Last I heard it will be heading north as a cat.2- even with all the land it's going over it is anticipated to stay strong. Be prepared and stay safe!
vlp1968 83 Posted August 25, 2011 Protein Bars may be a good option, along with shakes already mentioned. That's what I was planning if it hit Florida. We are very luck this time around. Can't wait for hurricane season to end!

FryeMama 0 Posted August 25, 2011 Thanks everyone for your rapid response! I totally forgot about nuts and canned chicken! I will definitely get to the store to pick up your suggestions, if there is anything left! My friends and family are saying that the stores are crazy. I haven't left work yet. healthy and happy....I'm on the Peninsula in a pretty low lying area. I have lived here all of my life and I absolutely hate these storms. And I'm pretty freaked out already after Tuesday's earthquake! I was banded last August!! Tuesday was my one year anniversary!!!
54Shirley 105 Posted August 25, 2011 Anything canned, you can probably have, and some in moderation, sugar free anything like puddings Jello. Pasta, Sauce, If you can eat Pasta.< /p> Grill anything that Defrosts, and if some stay frozen longer then others, Grill them another day. Think Survival mode... Just don't overdue it. It was even felt in Michigan, (NOT BY US THOUGH) So we will be thinking of you. You need anything ? Get on here and ask away. Don't become shy now ! Not the time for it. Take Care, Shirley. Up untl today I was thinking it wasn't going to be a big deal but now I guess I should do some preparation. Stay safe everyone! Where do you live Tracie? I'm in Islip. If the power goes out, I'm not sure what I'll eat because most things I eat I cook. I just went to costco and got 2 cases of Protein shakes, so I guess I'll just drink those. Guess I should put them in the fridge just in case. Though if it hits saturday night, I'll be at work.
