5 month Band anniversary

Recommended Posts

Hello all - i type fast and do not proof read so sorry for miss spelling or grammar lol

So today is 5 months to the date that I had my Lapband WLS. !!!!!

In the last 5 months I had most ups and only a few downs.

I had a slip 3 months out (6/23 ) and was reapaired that night in the hospital and i was back to normal and out of the hospital the next am.

I had had NO other problems other then that, no sliming, no pbing, no throwing up, no pain, no nothing other then my slip. besides fighting the HEAD and HABBIT Hunger

I exercise by walking and nothing else, i would like to get back to the gym once im in onederland and plan on doing that. I walk my dog 3 times a day up big hills for about 30-60 mins total

I have fell off the wagon and have eaten cupcakes, chocolate, carbs, ect, (very small amounts as b4 band it would have been out of controll) bites of this bites of that, but the next day i am right back to normal band diet. i do notice my weight loss is slower when i eat thoose foods.

I am at 6.5 cc in my band and am not relly hungry since my last fill. My normal day is coffee with cream and equal and my vitimans, at 7am, i have a bottle of Water on my drive to work, by 10am i have another coffee and a bottle of water, and between 11-12 i eat my "breakfast" which is a protien shake. through out the day i drink drink drink water, i have about 5-6 17fl oz bottles. between 3-4 i have another protien shake, water water water ... I sell cars for a living so Im VERY active at work and make sure i have abottle of water at my desk at all times. between 7-9 i eat dinner, a chopped garden salad with some veggies, feta or gorganzola cheese, dressing and protien, or a piece of chicken fish, turkey ( i do not eat red meat or pork by choice)

and some veggies. i use a small plate and small silverware, I chew chew chew chew and take small bites. I have noticed how food is different in my mouth now, when you chew up a bite if salad it changes the taste and sometimes i do not like it ! food is def different chewed to mush !! lol i put my fork down between bites and take 30-60 mins to eat, with or with out company, in a resturant or at home I STILL TAKE MY TIME.

after dinner I wait 45-60 mins drink if I am thirsty. I also am a snacker at night, cheese, sf fudgecicles, sf ice pops ect, BUT after this fill that erdge is almost gone. Learning that a HABBIT is not HUNGER, just because i always take a popcicle to bed, DOES not mean I am HUNGRY for it. So the last few nights i have fought the HABBIT and been fine going to sleep. I actully saw the scale movea bit more !!

I wish that I would have had surgery sooner but I am glad i had it now. I was up and down my whole life. lowest was 160 highest was 300lbs. I always say is EASY to loose weight, keeping it off is the HARD part, But now on my journey i have help. I call my band my little choke collar ( like a dog had) lol It reminds me b4 i go to far that I should not. I use myfitnesspal to track EVERYTHING i eat and my exercise so i know where i am for the day and that helps A LOT!!! sometines when you see the numbers on what u eat it helps. I eat between 700-1000 calories a day, low carbs. I do not restrict my self. If i want a bite i take a bite. but do try to follow a lower carb eating plan.

I just wanted to share my experiece so far with everybody. New banders and old. Support is key and this forum is great for support and help!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
