I discovered this site a few months after my surgery 3 years ago and came for a while and then kinda forgot about it. I rediscovered it last Spring and have been back daily since. While I'm near the end of my journey, being able to read what those of you who are at the beginning and middle are experiencing has given new life to my own. When I read the issues you are having it forces me to sit and think about the right way to respond which causes me to remember everything I've been through. After losing 115 pounds the first year, I spent the next 2 losing an average of 1 pound a month. It was really very frustrating. Now, in the last 3 or 4 months, I've lost 12 which leaves me with 14 to go. I doubt that would have happened without the comradery of my fellow LBTers. Some of the comments I've received from all of you are really very touching and mean more to me than you know. I honestly want every single one of you to have AT LEAST as much success as I have but while it may seem that I'm here to support you, I really get more than I give. So thank you all for just being here and sharing your journeys. None of actually knows each other but there is a bond here that nobody in the "outside world" could ever understand!

Love you all <3

Cindy

I think we all get support out this site and give support too. I come here to give others advice, look to see if any one else is experiencing things I have experienced to make sure I am not "the only one". lol! Congrats on your success and weight loss! Keep up the great work!

Cindy, you're living proof that this is a "journey," and not a "destination." Someone said that we're all on the path, just in different places along the way. and I have to agree with that.

I'm new enough at this, and have had such an easy time of it (relatively speaking), that I can only presume what some of these issues are like that I read about. But it doesn't lessen things one bit to know others are going through things. By being willing to share in the good and bad of this, we all learn from each other. I try to encourage others in their journey, but I also take encouragement by reading of what others are going through.

It's a pretty cool thing. :)

Well said Cindy! I'm also finding that being on these boards and giving advice to the new bandsters is helping me in my own journey. It makes me stop and think about whether or not I'm following my own advice! This is indeed a great place! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
