Was starting to worry-but I think..I have a bit if RESTRICTION!

Recommended Posts

Hey gang! If THATS what it feels like, then it's indeed heaven! It's a very interesting feeling to know you need to eat, (for caloric sake-so the body doesn't go into starve mode..) but also to NOT feel hungry! WHOA. I got my first fill last Tuesday(2.7 cc's..), but really didn't feel any different. Does the "restricted" feeling creep on you? Because I did think of calling surgeon to voice my continuing hunger concerns. Also, I hade my FIRST piece of whole-wheat(eaten in the smallest bites humanly possible..lol..)bread with my egg whites and salmon today. And I must say-I feel great! I just had a MM light for Protein sake-but to not feel hungry is just, well.. fabulous!...

I did not get any restriction until my 3rd fill, but some people get it right away. It does feel great to not be starving all the time and to actually be satisfied when eating a small meal. We do only need a meal the size of our fist, yet we tend to eat 4 times that amount. LOL

I love whole wheat bread and as long as i chew it up well and take little bites, i am fine with it. i am still working on not drinking with my meals, that is the hard one to break the habit. Sounds like you are getting some restriction and that is great. Good luck to you and your new journey :)

Happy for you! I was banded on august 2nd and I think I may be one of the lucky ones that has restriction without a fill. Were you hungry when you were on liquids? I drink about 1-1 1/2 cups of liquid and then I'm "full" for 3-4 hrs. I'm suppose to start solids on Tuesday.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
