Leisha249 24 Posted August 21, 2011 HI, just starting the lap band journey. This topic is proberly in here somewhere but cant find it. I have had issues with Hair loss in last year due to hormon issuse which is now under control. So, after lossing almost 1/2 thickness of hair I am really concerned about further hair loss. Used PhenFen 12 years ago and lost alot of hair then to. Does anyone experience any hair loss with diet changes.
honk 780 Posted August 22, 2011 At 4 months post op I started to have Hair loss. I started taking 5000 mg Biotin and within 4 months the hair loss was gone. Was it my body stabilizing after surgery or the Biotin? Who knows. I still take the biotin since I also have bad nails.

54Shirley 105 Posted August 22, 2011 As long as you get your Protein in DAILY, there is not a problem. ( More so with RNY patients. Because they have this malabsorption problem.) 60-80 G of Protein a Day, and a good chewable Multivitamin. (and some take Calcium, some drink milk That's up to you !) Eat Healthy, and enjoy life. That's all you need to do, and you should not have problems with hair loss. Shirley.

njm 0 Posted August 24, 2011 I take my Vitamins and do 70 to 90 grams of protien every day and my hair thinned significantly. According to my nut, it's the trauma of the surgery and the rapid weigh loss - I lost really fast up front - about 3.5 lbs per week for about 3 months. I also had my gall bladder put three months after my lap band - another trauma to my system. I'm one year post op and have stopped losing hair. It should now start coming back in and I think it is. As I tell my hairdresser - I'd rather be bald then fat. BTW no one but the two of us even notice.
