heathermilligan 0 Posted August 21, 2011 Ok..so 5 days ago i got banded..ive read so much how people bounce back w/in few days..well not the case here..im still in alot of pain..able to get around and walk. I am still taking pain meds tho cuz w/out its unbearable. Its not the incisions tho, its where the port it is. My surgeon put the port on top of my ribs and its swollen and very painful still. I cant sleep in my bed the only way to get sleep is semi sitting up in the recliner..It actually feels like its pulling or going to pop thru my skin when i try standing up and sittin down..once i finally get up or get seated it eases off..anyone experience this? any suggestions would be appreciated:)

jennifer1 180 Posted August 21, 2011 have you tried icing where your port is? they sent me home with an ice pack, but i was so out of it i didnt see it till days later after the swelling went down. my worse pain was the first 3 days, but i got better everyday after that. i too felt like my stomach was was riping apart everytime i got up/down, laughed, coughed or sneezed. you can always call your doctor's office, that's what there there for. dont ever feel like your being a pest. best wishes! healthy and happy 64 Posted August 21, 2011 I sleep on my side, so I placed a pillow beside me and kind of hugged it. It kept me from rolling too far over on my side and it made sleeping much easier. I am 8 days out and the port site definitely was the most difficult to heal. I still feel like it is pulling a little just after I eat ( or drink that is), but it is getting better everyday. BaileyRose 13 Posted August 22, 2011 That's exactly how I felt... And my dr told me it was normal. I slept in my Wing back chair with pillow behind me, straight as a stick, for three nights. If I even pushed back in the recliner I felt like I couldn't breathe and someone was ripping my abs out. I'm a little dramatic... Haha... But I really did feel awful. My dr said some people just feel pain differently and stronger than others... Basically he called me a wimp :-) I felt better on day 8 when I woke up. You'll feel better soon. Good luck!
