Post-op full liquid shakes. Yuck !!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am 4 days post op. Feeling better everyday although my tummy area is still pretty sore, especially around port incision.

I am on a full liquid diet for the next 2 weeks. All the shakes I have tried are yucky !

Can anyone share any shakes they thought were good ?

Thank you, Terri

Are you making your own or using pre-mixed? I dislike all of the pre- mixed. I use Designer whey Protein Powder mixed with skim milk and love it! It is 0 fat and only 1 carb which appeals to me because I am diabetic.

I brought the Special K Protein Shake and it was soooooooo delicious!!!!! It has 10 grams of Protein and 5 grams of fat. I loved that protein shake...... I know that we are to consume 60 grams of protein a day.

Thanks !

I was getting the pre-made drinks. Maybe I'll have to try making my own. I'll also look for the special K drinks.

My list the Dr. Gave me had slim fast low carb and slim fast optima. But I haven't been able to find either at my local stores.

I also like to make my own. I have both vanilla and chocolate whey. Skim milk is a must.. With chocolate sometimes I add a like Turani sugar free Syrup (vanilla) and a little Peanut Butter. It is mmmmmm.

I also use the vanilla with a little Jello sugar free cheesecake pudding mix and sometimes also add a couple of strawberries to it. I have a personal blender that makes 2 cups so that is what I use for one day.

Hope that helps. Experiment.....google homemade Protein shakes. Turani's flavored syrups are great. They are in coffee Creamer section of wal mart.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
