Can't stay off the scale

Recommended Posts

I was banded on August 8th. I lost 11 lbs the first week, but since monday the scale has not moved. I am getting nervous that it won't. Is it typical to not lose one week? I am still on liquids so I thought I would continue to lose. I have my low calorie Protein Shakes, skim milk, and Water all day. I think my band may need tightened, i can drink 16oz no problem and I was told 8 should be my max at a time. I can't seem to stay off the scale I've waited so long for this and I want to see results. Any advice??

the first 6 weeks are about healing. it is normal not to lose. I lost my first week, then I went up and down 2 pounds for the next 3-4 weeks. Frusterating? Yes, but week 5 I started losing again. You just lost 11lbs, your body is adjusting to that and recovering from surgery. If you can put the scale away for now, or don't get discouraged from the numbers.

I did the same thing. My first week I lost 15 lbs. Then when I went to my 2 week check up I had gained back 5. I knew to expect it so it didn't really bother me... But now I've got those 5 lbs back off... You'll probably fluctuate. A lot of people do. Once you start exercising I'm sure you'll start losing again.

Also, I can drink a lot of fluids at one sitting too. My doctor never told me anything about only 8 oz at a time... Good luck!

I was up 2lbs today from yesterday! I know it's NORMAL variation and I KNEW this would happen (im 8 days post-op), so today i'm going to take my scale over to my moms house. Then i'll go once a week or so and weigh myself. I can't handle torturing myself expecting the scale to move every single day because it's just not going to happen!

So, get it OUT OF YOUR HOUSE! Weight once a week, I promise, it is MUUUUCH better for you!

Thank the little baby Jesus! I had my surgery on August 4th and lost 9 pounds the first week and a half. Then absolutely nothing. I was really beginning to freak out because I didn't realize that this is normal. I am so glad to know that I am normal and I didn't do anything wrong. Sometimes this website is filled with wonderful information and support and then other times people scare the heck out of you with everything you can screw up if you don't do everything perfect. My friend who has had the procedure done told me that it is normal and the weight will start coming off again once I get my fills but I was really convincing myself that I had screwed something up bad. I actually like weighing myself everyday because it helps to keep me on track. When I am presented with not so good food choices I always think about the scale I will step on in the morning........and I walk away. Thank you so much for starting this thread you have made my weekend! So relieved.........B)

you are doing the right thing moving your scale out of your house. I weight once a week at curves, that way I do not stress about it.

I got rid of mine a long time ago....

When I go to the Dr.,, that's when I get weighed, and it is a surprise every time.

Then I log it in my purse calendar, and check out what I weighed the last time I seen him.

My whole house is carpeted, so the scale wouldn't work rite anyway, and I learned from

my first time around, that it drives you crazy.

So my surgeon suggested just get weighed here, and you watch your cloths sizes go down,

and you will know your losing weight.

So that's what I been doing, and it works.

So I'm sticking to what makes me feel better, not drive me up the wall.

Same as a person who is a clock watcher, bad habit, and you drive your own self up the wall.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
