Hello All,

I had my first fill about 3 weeks ago and I have to say they really went to town on that fill. Unfortunately I throw up pretty much everyday, sometimes its because I ate to fast, sometimes it is just from Water and right now I have a stabbing pain in my side...Loosing 13 pounds in 3 weeks has been great, but is this band life? I find myself only drinking water and the occasional yogurt smoothie. I ventured out to have ONE very soft raviloi today and only 1/2 went down...what is up, am I filled too tight?

Jen

From what I have read it sounds like you might be eating too fast, along with possibly being overfilled. you might want to take time to chew your food into oblivion, and if that does not help, talk to your doctor. Throwing up too often can cause damage, and is not good for you or your band.

If you are PBing on Water AT ALL, you need to get in and have a small unfill. What you have described is really not supposed to be what banded life is all about.

Feel better!

Yup, too tight. If you have gone several days on nothing but liquids (which is GOOD to do after ANY PB) and you are still getting stuck...especially on liquids, you are too tight. Call your doc. This is NOT the way banded life is supposed to be and 13 pounds lost at the expense of your band health is NOT worth it! Now, go get 'em! How's THAT for a Pep Talk? LOL

You are too tight. I know, I got overfilled once. Good that you lost 13 lbs but over time, it will drive you to start making bad food choices in order to be able to eat.

Plus being too tight is very dangerous for the band. It could cause slippage.

This NOT in anyway "band life". Get an unfill. Make the appointment today.

My dr's philosophy about fills is thus: "I'd rather have you be a little underfilled and be able to eat a bit more of the right foods (like chicken) than be too tight and make bad food choices"

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
