cal9182 0 Posted August 18, 2011 Ok soooo! I have BCBS h m o in southern California, I understand that I have to get a referal from a primary care physician before I can get the surgery, Here is my problem: I havent had health insurance since I was a kid until now that I'm almost 30 and I have no idea where to start, my primary care physician i chose when i first got insurance laughed in my face when i went to him asking for help with getting the lap band surgery, he laughed at me and said "all you have to do is eat salads" So aside from that humiliation, i changed my Medical Group, and how I need to find a physician associated with that medical group. I have gained 30lbs in 3 months since I started this process from the severe depression and stress related to it. Does anyone with BCBS h m o in SoCal have a primary care physician they can refer me too? I have no idea where to go, and I need to get this weight and food addiction under control, I've got a bladder control problem now, and i know my bmi is well over 40. please help guys! Hello, I have found that if you look up Dr in your area on line and cross check to see who take's your insurance. You could also ask BCBS if they have a list of Dr's. As for the Dr that was mean to you and may I say there are a few out there. I would look up his name on Google and then rate him as a Dr. This is how I found my Dr. and I am so happy to have the Dr I have. Wish I could help more but I am in NY. Hang in there. April Raine 3 Posted August 19, 2011 Hello! I'm not sure where you are with your search, but I would like to share my experience..... I had my surgery 3 weeks today and I also have BCBS and no way they were going to cover my surgery. I went through True Results. They did my pre surgery testing...they financed my surgery....they are totally awesome. I never needed a doctor's referral because they have their own. Just a clearance from a cardiologist. They helped me from one month to the next. I thought I was never going to get help..but they helped me. Maybe, if you haven't found any help...you can call them. They are also online. Good luck and welcome.... Ok soooo! kaydin81 8 Posted September 6, 2011 I have BCBS also, and didn't need a primary care physicians referral. I would call the surgeons office and ask if you need a referral from your primary care. You never know, they may say they dont~ good luck!
