There is nothing I can't eat if I eat correctly. small bites, chew good, eat slowly. I don't eat a lot of bread anymore because it can give me problems but I can eat it if I'm very careful.

I find the band to be 1/3 of the equation. Yes, I do have to work out and I do have to make the right food choices. In my opinion, if you don't combine all 3 of these, it may not work the best for you. That being said, there are days I don't work out and there are days I go to the Dairy Queen. I do these things on occassion but not consistantly. It seems to work for me!

Good Luck with your decision!

I'm like TKW - there's nothing I can't eat if I eat it correctly. Including bread, rice and Pasta. And yes, I go to fast food (I usually eat 1 taco at Del Taco now instead of 4-6 of them tho) about once a week. My fiance, who has lost over 80 lbs due to the lo carb diet, hates that I can eat just 1 scoop of ice cream or 1 cookie while he has to eat the whole thing. That's why I love my band so much. If I could stay on a diet, I wouldn't have ever had to have surgery in the first place.

Yes, I go to the gym 3-4 days a week. I walk on the treadmill for 60 mins and do upper body strength training for about 20 mins. I've lost 97 lbs so far in almost 2 yrs.

You don't have to give up your favorite foods. Although if you can't tolerate them (like alot of people can't eat bread) you absolutely won't mind giving them up! I'm terrified of GB surgery. I'm so happy the LB worked for me and it's still working for another 16 lbs!

Good luck with your decision!

Lapbanding is great if you have a full undertanding that it is not a magic pill. Its your tool to freedom from obesity.YOU are the most important factor in its sucess. You must committ to the RULES eating prescribed amounts of food and starting a exercise program that gets you moving in some way shape or form. I too have multiple problems with my spine so I started with just walking a mile in a pool to gain strenght and mobility. Its amazeing what this activity did for me. I ve graduated from the pool now and walk anywhere I want to now at least 10 miles per week. It feels WONDERFUL !.If your searching for a easy way to obesity freedom its not without 99% sustained effort on your part. Good luck with your decision !

I think of the lapband as my tool, one leg of a 3 legged stool. the othe to are diet and exercise, up to me. without the other 2, it will not work. It is not a magic fix, you have to do the work too. I can eat almost nothing, if I am wise about it. I do not eat any white bread as I don't want it to get stuck, but do eat whole wheat breads with no issues. I can eat tortillas with no problems, rice, corn, and even popcorn. If you want to do this, you have to do the work too. I exercise 5 days a week, but I am addicted to it now. lol!

I also have PCOS (was diagnosed when I was 15, now 24). That is one of the main contributing factors of my getting the surgery. I'm still pre-op. I have about 2 more clearance appointments before they subit to the insurance. The lap-band is only a tool, and still requires a lot of work after getting it. I suggest doing LOTS of research prior to making and decisions. I looked into the process for 2 years prior to going forth with it. I then lost my job and insurance which gave me 2 more years to research and help me decide that it was good for me. 4 years of total research and I'm confident. I've seen good, bad, ugly.. Just make sure you know as much as you possibly can.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
