Veritas 0 Posted February 1, 2006 Hello All - I have posted a few times here but never made a formal introduction, so I thought it was high time I did so. My name is Kayla, I live in Boise, ID and will be banded on February 27th by Dr. Cahn. I chose the name Veritas as my user name because it is Latin for truth and I felt like that was an appropriate word for me right now. I think I am finally ready to be honest and truthful with myself about why I am overweight and what it is going to take to change my life. I grew up on a farm and have been overweight practically my whole life. I always told myself it was because I was "big boned" and came from "sturdy stock" (come to think of it, I think my parents told me the same things) But over time I went from being chubby to downright fat and am now medically considered morbidly obese. What an ugly description!! I have always had my head in the sand when it came to my weight. I take the utmost care in my appearance (most of the time anyway) and have worked hard on focusing on other aspects about myself that are positive. I am smart and funny and very capable and talented in so many different areas. But the truth finally hit me hard recently when I realized none of those things really matter if i drop dead of a heart attack or become so limited by my weight that I can't lead a normal life! I turn 30 years old in August this year. I am determined that my 30's will be better than my 20's. And if I don't have children, it won't be because I am too overweight to conceive. I am also married and while our relationship is struggling right now, I truly believe that as I am able to lose weight and finally be at peace with myself when it comes to food, I will also be able to be a better partner to my husband. I am so looking forward to being banded and taking the next step in this journey. I am glad I found this website. It seems like a wonderful community of people and I am looking forward to getting to know everyone. Kayla

Wheetsin 714 Posted February 2, 2006 I'm in Kansas City, MO. I'm in their online IPT program. It's in interesting experience. We're mixed with people who are in the program on campuis, and I always hear them talking about the "Smurf Turf".
