Does anyone find that they sweat more post op? I have always been a sweater, growing up in Florida it was not unusual to me. I live in NYC now and I can't even walk down 1 avenue, about 2-3 blocks, without breaking a sweat. I was not this bad pre surgery. I get sweaty washing dishes and I get sweaty coming out of the shower!! Mind you I have a window ac keeping my apt about 73-75 degrees, but still!!!

I've been sweating more. When was your surgery? Mine was two weeks ago... I think I sweat more because I'm still recuperating and when I'm cleaning or something where im exerting a lot of energy I sweat because I'm weak still.

That's my two cents :-)

I noticed it more when I had just been banded (a little over 8 weeks ago). It also had a sweet smell like the Protein shakes....ewwww. Now, I do not sweat as often and actually, I have had to thurn the thermostat up in my house because I was getting too cold! I guess that is what happens when you lose pounds! It will get better!

Very shortly after my surgery, like maybe within 2 or 3 weeks, I was very weak and even with the smallest amount of energy expended (like going up 8-10 steps), I had to sit down cause I felt so weak. But it turned out that during that little time since the band, my blood pressure was so positively affected, my orginal bp meds were way too much. So my dr. took me off 3 of my 4 bp meds, and cut the last one in half! I immediately felt better. One of the many amazing pluses of this surgery!

So if you are taking blood pressure meds, be sure and track your bp, and if low, talk to your doc!

I know that doesn't have anything to do with sweating, but both are sort of related to affects of exerting energy. Hope this helps.

Good luck to you.

I find that I sweat more too. I went to the movies on tuesday and got up to go to the bathroom and when I got back I was sweating, I did the dishes last night and I was pooring sweat. I thought it was just me. I think I may have to email my doctor to find out if this is normal.

LOL! This thread is funny to me for some reason! LOL! I am sweating more but I contribute it to my weight loss and hormones just trying to regulate. I think once our bodies get stable or stop losing then our hormones will stop bouncing around and causing sweat...I HOPE!

I've always been a sweater, not really sure if I'm sweater more, but the other day I was so annoyed I was playing tennis on my Wii and was really working to get exercise in with it and I was sweating bullets, but my HR wasn't even that high. So maybe I do sweat more now. I do feel like I get cold more, but I attribute that to less insulation...lOl

Thanks for the info, I don't have a BP problem, I wish that was the case! (BP meds)

Just for the asking,,, have you ever had your thyroid checked ? It's only a tube of Blood, and then when they test your Thyroid Level, they will tell you if it;s in normal range or not. Your PCP can run the test. It's a thought.

Not me I freeze now, even 100+ heat feels good.

Yep I can't stand the cold I love the Heat.

I went for a slight unfill in the beginning of the week, and they take my temp. o.k. it's trying to calculate, comes up 92 ! Tries again gets 94.......The PA comes in and says did they take your temp ? Yes she said thats weird, lets try again. So she goes and talks to the tech. she is saying yes I took it and that's what I'm getting.

So they check each other 98.6. So they bring it back in, and get 96 Now mind you I am FREEZING, and the air is on.... So a different tech to the PA says you want me to get another Temp. Gauge from up front ? Yes Please. She comes back, and settles for 97.

That's do to the Thyroid tho. My specialist asked me if I get cold, does it take for ever to worm up "YES", and if you get overheated does it take forever for the temp to come down ? "Yea"

That's the Thyroid Gland doing that. It takes time because it's sluggish, and weight loss can be the same.

Just thought you might want to know about this.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
