Lack of Restriction...symptoms...

Recommended Posts

OK, I have read "how to tell if you have the perfect fill" however, I still have a few questions.

I'm at 2.5cc's currently and right after my last fill I had a good amount of restriction...4 chicken Mc Nuggets and I was satisfied...a few weeks out now and I'm able to eat quite a bit more...sometimes 2 cups...I do notice however that I do not get hungry nearly as often...

Am I normal? I'm so paranoid I've stretched my pouch...

Hi Jennye,

Yes, you are normal! Restriction can come and go with all sorts of variables. It's not a static thing. I experienced the same thing several weeks after my fill and then a few weeks later, bang, the restriction was back.

Continue to be careful when eating, so you won't be taken by surprise when you get tight again. That's very unpleasant!

Alexandra,

So that is why they call it a fickle bitch...LOL

I think it is so odd that one day I'm restricted...the next it's a free for all! As long as I keep losing I will not complain but it just worries me!

I also read your post on being complacent...wow did I need to read that! I've been living on toasted cheese sandwhiches for the past month...that is all I'm hungry for...last night I decided to go grocery shopping and made a great chicken stir fry...also bought a great cookbook "Simple Chicken" from B&N with over 400 pages of recipes each with a picture...at least that will give me some ideas...even though I've lost weight eating as I have been I need to increase my protien and being a big meat phobic hasn't helped...hopefully this will!

Thanks for replying.

I just wanted to add that my Dr. said that the little part of the stomach at the top above that band will not stretch. The pt's that have the RNY either have a bigger pouch then us or their pouch is further down where the stomach will stretch. Every dr may say something different, just wanted to add what mine said:cool:

Hi Kelly,

I'm glad to hear what your dr. said about our upper stomach.. I had been wondering if I am eating too much and stretching it out.. WHEW!!!! Makes me feel better.. thanks for the info!!!!

Kelly,

I'm glad you shared that too. I eat until I'm full. I've only slightly PB'd a few times and that was when bread and a cheese curd got stuck...but I've never PB'd from being so full I had too...

Isn't it too bad that the band didn't have an instruction manual that laid everything out for us...like after first fill you will be restricted X number of days...don't eat bread...at fill #2 you will be restricted for two weeks...when you get your period it will reincrease...LOL...we are all so individual in our Quest for the sweet spot...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
