Petunia_5 1 Posted August 18, 2011 I was banded 8/8/11 and since the surgery burp pretty much after every meal and sometimes drink any substantial amount. Is it a sign of over eating? I have yet to have a feeling of "stuck" nor have I needed to throw up after any meal. I know my post op nurse told me to expect some gas post op as they put air into your system, but this is crazy!! Noturningback15 45 Posted August 18, 2011 I burped and made all kind of noises right after surgery! LOL! It's completly normal. It's been over a year and I burb when my stomach is empty so I try not to go too long without eating.
BaileyRose 13 Posted August 18, 2011 I burp all the time. I asked my doctor about and said it's very very common. It's because we take in air when we eat and drink an since our stomachs are so much smaller it doesn't absorb into our bodies so it has to come up. He said some people do it more than others... I think you and I just may be the lucky ones that do it all the time. :-)
lifeisjustbeginning2011 11 Posted August 18, 2011 I burped like some kind of drunk sailor on days 2 and 3 post op. Now, 6 weeks post op, I burp when hungry or if I'm eating too quickly, too much, etc. It is just a warning sign for me. If I feel the slightest bit burpy, I force it out if I can because I know I'll be more comfortable in the long run. Amy
