How often do you weigh?

Recommended Posts

Wow we started off at the same weight...how did you do it? I am struggling with myself. I was banded july 20 and ive only lost 8 pounds..i feel like im doing everything wrong. Im only filled 4cc and feel not much restriction.

I weighed daily from day-1 and three years later, though I do skip days, I pretty much still do. This truly being an age-old question here on LapBandTalk.com I know from many discussions that there are differing opinions and I came to a conclusion early on that this is very much a personal choice. If you want to weigh daily and can handle the guaranteed ups and downs, then go for it. You will fluctuate a pound or two from time-to-time, even if you have stuck to your plan 100%. I weigh the same time every day, first thing in the morning after using the bathroom. It helped/helps to keep me on track and be aware of how certain foods, my cycle or lazy days can affect my weight.

Oh my, it is much too soon for you to be frustrated. Be patient and give it time to start doing its job. The first six weeks are for healing. Once you get at restriction it will get a lot easier. If you follow your surgeons instructions it will happen. As far as diet I eat mainly fresh meat and fresh fruits/veggies and whole grains from the bakery and avoid processed pre-made pre-packaged foods.

I weigh myself weigh more often than I should but the only one that counts is Tuesday morning. That's the one I record. I've had the same routine for 3 years. I get up, let the dogs out, brush teeth and hair, pee and then weigh. I let the dogs in, make coffee, drink it while I check email etc. Then I go back to the bathroom, put on make-up, brush hair again and weigh again. I know it's pointless..it's always the same as the first time, but I do it anyway. When I get home at the end of the day, I weigh myself again. Sometimes, that number dictates what I eat for dinner. At night, when I get ready for bed I weigh one more time. Obsessive? Yea, probably. But that's what I do!

Well, even though it is on my mind all the time, I only weigh myself 1-2 times per month because I have a manic personality. If I weighed myself all the time then I would get descouraged, be on the highs and lows along with my weight. This way, if I lost 5 or 10 lbs, I would have felt like I have progressed. For some people it is okay, but for folks like me it is better to focus on getting healthy than the numbers on a scale.

Wow! I am surprised at these answers. I thought I was one of a few that weighed daily! Crazy! I don't have a scale at home. I think I would go insane. But I weigh myself at work everyday. It it frustrating at times though.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
