Starting my journey all over...

Recommended Posts

Hello All!

I was banded in November of 2008 and lost 70 pounds!! :) Last year I let myself start gaining the weight back and then got pregnant in August. While I was pregnant I had all of the Fluid taken out of my band and am now back to almost my pre-surgery weight. I have a beautiful baby girl now and I'm ready to get my weight loss journey back on track! I have an appointment next Tuesday with a new doctor! I am excited and nervous to start this all over again! I look forward to becoming an active member of this forum.. Hope you all have a blessed day!!

I Meagan, I was banded in May of 2009 and only lost about 20 Lbs with two filles. I have gained most of my weight back. About 30 lbs ! I am ashamed and do not want to go back to my MD because I have failed :(

Congrates on your New Baby Girl.

Corney, you only failed if you don't continue to try. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, go back to your doctor and start all over again.....You can do it :)

Thanks Caorl, I am just so upset with myself. I will go back to my MD when I loose at least 15 lbs. I feel like all his work was a waste. Thank you for the much need encouragment.

Not to sound bossy or like a know it all, because goodness knows I don't, but I wouldn't wait until I lose any weight at all. We have all know been less then successful when trying to lose weight before we fill in the blank. I assure you that your doctor has seen patients who have gained all their weight back and are just happy they are back in the groove and ready to move forward again. I myself gained 5lbs over this summer after a 70lb weight loss but when o the doctor, got an adjustment and hope to lose my remaining 50-60lbs! I was tempted to cancel appointment so doctor wouldn' see a gain but figured that is a slippery slope I didn't want to stand on.

[Oh, you don't sound bossy at all. I needed some advise. I will think about calling him or at least the Nutritionist. Thanks again Carol. Keep me posted about your results.:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
