My surgeon said he doesn't but I found out that he left some of the Fluid in the band (.8 cc). I'm six weeks post-op and just had 3cc added to my band for a total of 3.8 cc. I am glad he did not do any more than the .8cc because I got "stuck" on Water 5 days post-op - so I had swelling too!

Well, before my first fill yesterday, I didn't think he'd put ANYTHING in! I was SOOOO hungry post surgery. While chatting with his assistant, I found out that he put in a little saline during surgery to ensure a good fit around the stomach. I was given 2.7 cc's yesterday. After a swallow test, I was sent on my way....

I am getting banded Sept 8, and my doctor told me that he plans on putting 'a little bit' (I'll find out specifics when I meet with him later this week) of Fluid in the band at the time of surgery.

I'm sure though that I could tell him not to if I wanted. I just wanted to get people's opinions and see if people who got a semi-fill during surgery were happy with that process or not... Any tips from the pros?

I was banded 7/26 and was told I got a 'fill' also. I have no idea how much yet. I'm due to go back next week for another fill and I'm wondering right now if I even need it. I don't get hungry and it doesn't take much to fill me up. We'll see. I had to have hiatial hernia repair so I'm not sure if the pain I suffered with was from that or from the band and I agree with another person who replied 'each case is different'. Good luck to you

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
