Great to see these fabulous updates! Bob how is the gym and that sauna sounds so relaxing! Lisa soo proud of you!!! You have inspired me to use the gym at the hotel too, I'm leaving in a week and a half for Disney and has a treadmill. No excuses right? Bvork sounds like you had a rough patch there. I'm sorry to read about your hospital trip but hope alls back on track! Scott that is amazing!!!! Can't say I can eat anything tho. I tried to eat a half a waffle with the kids and you should only hear the gurgling and noises coming from me. pizza, Bagels and Pasta were a staple before surgery and long gone. I do miss pizza every once in a while cause my family gets it still here and there but I can not eat breads, carbs, pasta. I have enjoyed running and Zumba and just started couch to 10k after I was looking for more when I finished the c25k. I feel terrific but dont see the difference that others compliement me on. Ive lost 65lbs went from 236 to now 171...anyone else having body issues?

Great job everyone and it's refreshing to hear these success stories but I'm wondering where has everyone else gone??? Can't believe it's been 9 months!!!! anyone else good or bad? Happy or sad??? Let's continue on this journey as August banders or A11's as Caryn dubbed us lol where r u caryn?

HELLO EVERYONE,

It has been a while since I have been here. How is everyone doing? Let me give you guys a little update.........

I am all over the place I don't know how I feel about the lapband anymore, now don't get me wrong I grateful and so happy for the weight loss. But I am miserable. In November had flipped port and had to get that repaired............February 21 got a .5cc fill and had to got back February 23 for a .25cc unfill since then I have been miserable. Almost any thing I put in my mouth I spit/throw up including beverages. I think I have delievered acid reflux. I don't feel normal and it becoming embrassing to be around people. I think I only have about 2cc in my band. I am going to schedule an appointment to go discuss this with my doc and probably get a unfill to see if it makes me feel better. Im ranting, Im emotional, Im confused, Im.............................

You guys are great motivators! I enjoy reading your comments and achievements. I can't believe how much weight you guys have lost. I've lost 57 lbs. Started at 221 down to 164. It's such a scary feeling. Because I can't remember when I've ever been so thin. I get a lot of compliments and it feels good. But I really need to step my game up and start exercising. I'm usually from one extreem to the next, and I've been a couch potatoe for a long time. I just joined a boot camp for 10 days in a month of pure hell. I'm looking forward to it. LOL!! Hopefully my messed up knees could keep up with it. I'm really happy with my lapband even though is so difficult to get my food down. I have problem eating meat and rough solid food. Not just because I feel it gets stuck. But also because I feel it burning thru my esophogus. I made an appt. with my gastroenterologist and hopefully he can tell me what's wrong. But besides that I'm doing good. I'm very happy that most of all of us, have not had any significant complications with the band and hopefully we never will. Congradulations to you all A11!! Please keep posting :D

Things are going well. I am going to the gym 3 days a week with a friend. I lose about 3 lbs each time but it's mostly Water and comes back, but I always go down a bit more. I have lost 63 as of this morning.

The gym definitely makes the weight come off faster. I'm mostly using the bike and I'm up to 5 miles each time. That's about 240 calories, then I go to the spa and sauna.

That is awesomeness! I have been trying to reply, everybody is doing so well!! I've lost 85 total now. 24 to 14 and loving it. The weight loss has slowed a lot! I need to boost it back up . Still afraid of it coming back. I've lost 115 once before.

My story is very very similiar. Surgery 8.31.11 I have lost 90 lbs so far and also went from size 26 to 14/16. I am fitting into large/ xl shirts. My weight loss has slowed considerably, and sometimes gets me upset. But the scale is still moving in the right direction. I walk 40 mins. everyday, and i think that has helped me a great deal. Good luck to everyone on this journey!!

Hello fellow August 11 Banders!!!!

Checking in after all this time!!! How is everyone?

I just completed my first half marathon on Subday. I can't believe my old post as a newbie runner starting C25K to running 13.1 miles. It's been amazing and I've taken my goal and surpassed it. Weight wise, health wise, physically, mentally, I'm living a normal life. I gym 3-4 days a week, and started crossfit training.

I started at 236 pounds and my lowest was 128 back in April. I now go between 130-140. I'm still trying to follow rules, I had the band loosened due to reflux and bad heartburn so trying to control portions. Still logging on MFP for almost 2 years. I hope everyone has stories to share good or bad and trust me there's been struggles here n there. It's getting through with help n support. My Best to all Banders!!! :-)

Congrats ctarantino!! Awesome job, and high five for accomplishing the half marathon!!

All is well with me too!

I hace reache my goal as well! I was banded Aug 2, 2011 at the time I weighed in at 300lbs and now I am 134.6!! It's an amazing feeling!!! I've ran four 5K's, I was training for a half marathon, but couldn't do it due to my husband being deployed...so I had to put that on hold. But I'm still running 2 days a week and doing he Insanity workout 6 days a week. I have toned and I have huge amounts of energy. :)

My last doc appoint was Aug 14th, dc said all things are looking grea and I am doing an amazing job. I overheared him tell his nure I was a superstar. That made me feel awesome.

Anyways, I hope others post on here too. It would be great to see everybodies progress. ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
