How do you know if you have stretch your pouch?(no fill's yet)

Recommended Posts

I was baned on 12-21-10 so far i have lost 80 pounds. I have not had any fills yet and i would like to reach my goal weight without any. But lately I have worried that something is wrong i can drink Water as fast as i want with no trouble and I'm hungry all the time. So i'm worried that i have stretch out my pouch.

See your doctor. It may be time for that 1st fill! It's great that you have already lost 80 without a fill---way to go!!

I have always been able to drink as fast as i want. I have no fill in my band either.

I wondermif your band may be looser because you've lost some fat around your tummy?

No fill? My surgeon said he put some Fluid into mine at time of surgery as "I had done such a great job of doing the pre-surgery shakes" I laughed because I cannot say I didn't taste a morsel here or there, just a TASTE and only about four times in the two week period. And I didn't use all the shakes at that time. My thing was if I wasn't hungry why eat, wasn't that part of what we are learning here? I did lose over 10 lbs in that two week period and feel good now. Had surgery on Mon 8/8 and have lost about five lbs but could be just from the bloat post surgery which is fine. Down is down. I am concerned tho as I too can drink as before without issue. Water especially. Jello, well that can trigger that pressure mid-abdomen, but I can do a 8 oz shake thinned with no problems except I do get full. I cannot SIPI. Is that bad? I just cannot do it and was not able to do it after surgery either. No vomit for me..

I am having my first fill in three weeks I believe.

This is such a fun adventure...Just keep up with the ride!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
