not losing

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am now one month post banding. I lost 15 pounds during the liquid stage along with being sick. Since then, I have not eaten over 1200 calories per day. I usually have only 1000 per day. The scales are really not moving. One day I may lose a pound and then the next day, I gain it back. This has been going on for the past 2 weeks since off liquids. I go back to the doctor on 2/10/06 and hope he will give me a fill. Do you think this will help? I have noticed many people on this site losing 10 plus pounds every month. I don't want to be a failure. I was so excited the first few weeks.

Thanks:(

Quoth my wifes Surgeon:

"The first six weeks are about healing, You shouldn't even think about the scales until after your first fill".

Plus:

"Are you exercizing? are you keeping your Protein up?"

Some times the body needs a break. 15 lbs is a good amount of weight, maybe your body is saying WHOAH! Stop! I need time to catch up. Its weird, I'll lose one week and gain the next w/out changing anything. If your at 1200 calories just keep it up and give yourself some time to heal, and remember, its not a race.

Good luck !!!

i am 2 weeks out, was banded 1/16/06 and i lost 15 lbs and now have gained 2 or 3 back after mushies; i think it's normal to gain as you are putting more food back into your stomach; heck i'll basically be on normal food before the first fill, so.................. to go from broth to food, yeah you will gain; i am even walking every day and i'm with NJChick, up one, down 1 etc. I think until after the filling, it's up and down; i think it is about healing, like i said i am 2 weeks out and i am still having pain and burning sensations here and there; i have been out of work 2 weeks and don't know if i am ready to go back or not. did anyone else take more time

Exactly! Give your attention to healing, the weight loss will come afterwards!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
