Started mushies today

Recommended Posts

So, I started mushies today and I was very suprised at how much I could not eat. On the liquid I have been very hunger, like waking up at 2 am starving kind of hungery. I got up this am, had my normal 1/2 cup coffee, then soft scrambled 2 eggs. I think I ate 1. I was very careful to chew and I want something to drink, but I am holding off for 30 min. I hope it sticks to my ribs better than the liquid did so I will stay fuller for longer. ;)

Hi there! I am in the same boat except I cannot figure out if I am hungry or feeling weird pains from surgery. I was banded on 8/4 and have felt pretty well overall (except for some terrible gas pains) - but not sure what hungry feels like anymore. Any good recipes for puree/mushy food that you have found? I am looking around for something different just to jazz it up! I added 2 tsp of Peanut Butter to my choc Protein shake w/ice this morning & that was yummy... Just looking forward to texture and something that isn't so sweet. Best of luck to you! :)

I just started mushies as well and I have to say the fat free ricotta/spaghetti sauce/ low fat mozzarella string cheese bake was YUMMY! I think most bandsters refer to it as some kind of lasagne, but I can see this becoming a staple meal for me not only in mushies but from here out.

I've posted this before, but I love it:

16 oz cottage cheese

1 pkg sugar free Jello pudding or Gelatin powder (the pudding makes it more dessert like, the Gelatin more salad like)

1 large Cool Whip

I 16 oz can of crushed pineapple, drained

What type of pudding do u use? And what exactly does this qualify as? Is this a snack, meal?? Sounds delish. How long do u have to let it sit in the fridge?? Thanks

This does sound good. Question, y do u have to use string cheese?? Y not low fat moz. shredded cheese? And do u mix it all together and bake it or layer in the order of the ingredients? THanks, going to store today!

I'm sure you can use just regular low fat mozzarella cheese, the string cheese is great because of Portion Control. I layer it. Ricotta on the bottom, spaghetti sauce, then cheese. You can bake or microwave it. Either way its good.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
