Able to eat too much, so frustrated!

Recommended Posts

Sadly the band does not take away the urge to eat badly . I was banded on May 25th and I have changed my whole life style. Eating healthy is a commitment and sometimes a chore. Sometimes when people are too strict with their lifestyle changes, they get burned out. Be realistic with yourself and compromise and treat yourself at intervals. Some days my band gives me better restriction that other days but I try to hold on and get through the day. I probably need a fill but I will get one once I plateau. Get back in the right mindset and seek out help. I see a nutritionist an she gives helpful advice. Do you attend monthly support groups? Try really hard not to go backwards on this journey. I feel great where I am right now. I don't want to pack back on 32lbs. Good luck and take one day at a time.

Do you keep a food journal detailing everything you eat each day and keep track of the caloires, fat, Protein, etc? You will be surprised how fast the calories add up. Everyone has had great advise and the food journal is the only other advise I can think of. I was banded on March 1 of his year and still have not had a fill. The Dr feels it is still working and I am continuing to loose weight.

Keep positive and great luck to you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
