just me again 0 Posted August 11, 2011 Hi, I didnt even know that you all were here. When I had the surgery I thought (stupidly) that this was only happening to me and the pain and the restrictions were just a punishment for me. I was so happy to see so many others speaking about their experiences and the success they are having. I have lost 106 pounds since december 16th last year and it has been a huge struggle physically as well as mentally and I am glad to see I am not the only one who felt this. I have a question..... When do I see myself as the new me. When I look in the mirror I still see the bigger me. The doctors look at me like I am nuts ( maybe I am hahahah) I still go straight to the big clothes in the store and sometimes try them on before I catch myself. Do any of you have the same feelings? My weight loss has stalled over the last month and I have lost nothing and this is worrying me do any of you have a suggestion. Well I hope you are all doing really well in your journeys and hope to talk again.
Cindy C 150 Posted August 11, 2011 Congrats on your success. You're doing great. The closer you get to your goal, the harder it is to lose and the longer it takes. I had my surgery 3 years ago. I lost 115 the first year, 12 the second and 17 the third. But when you don't seem to be losing pounds, you are still losing inches. You are probably exercising and gaining muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat so the scale will slow down. Just keep up with what you're doing and the scale will eventually catch up.
vickyd 24 Posted August 11, 2011 I had my surgery about 2 weeks before you (on Dec 2nd) and have been experiencing the same sort of stall/slow weight loss over the last 2 months but like others have said I can see a difference in my clothes so I know I am losing inches but it is still frustrating to not see the scale move much. I can't offer much advice (since I'm dealing with it too) but I can tell you what I have been trying to do...I've been "tweaking" my food choices (I have fallen into a rut of eating the same things over and over) and increased my exercise. This has helped the scale move a bit (although slowly). Also, there is a thread on the post-op page for people who were banded in December 2010 (you may have to look through a few pages to find it), but you might find it helpful to see what others who were banded around the same time as us are going through (and what suggestions they might have). You are doing great so far!!
