Just a follow up that I did not feel well before going to bed last night. I had a horrible stomach ache and still have one this morning. Is it the popcorn? Two handfuls went down OK but 5 handfuls? Too much? I think, yes. Moderation and do I really "need" this or just "want" this.

I have not had any issues with popcorn, the only time i actually eat it is at the movies and that is a once a month thing. :) i am so glad that i can eat it, cause going to the movies is not the same without getting some popcorn. I just don't eat the whole bag anymore :) LOL

I did wait to try for 2 months post op though. I can also eat corn and rice with no issues.

I have a new handout from Cedars-Sinai Center for weight loss that recommends popcorn on their "Healthy Foods Shopping List" as a healthy snack.< /p>

Actually it calls for Fat Free Microwave Popcorn, but if I cut back somewhere else on fat, the 1/2 TBS canola oil my popcorn maker takes should

be good. But then I only have eight days to worry about it 'till I go under the knife .At least for a few months.: > )

popcorn is one of the few things I can get down in the first week or so after a fill. I know it's bad but I get the movie theater butter b/c I'm getting so few calories during that time period.

pop corn is not a bad snack its what you put on it. Light butter its fine you just cant over do the butter and oil. Air popped its hardly no calories

I used to be able to eat popcorn. Your mileage may vary, obviously, but god, I wish popcorn were a slider for me still. I've had problems with it three times since I hit restriction, so I have unwillingly learnt to cut it out entirely. First time was bad, spent an hour drooling over a toilet in a public bathroom before it came up, and the texture was not fun. Second time was movie popcorn, and I was up all night working that back up. The last time... I had it on a Friday night, and went to bed feeling off. I woke up at five in the morning feeling like I was going to die. My chest hurt so badly, but it didn't want to come up, so I fell asleep on the bathroom floor. Woke up again a few hours later, puked up stomach acid and a few popcorn hulls, through my nose. Lather, rinse, repeat over the next fifteen hours. I got down a few sips of Water late that night, woke up Sunday morning with a sinus infection, because funny thing, chronic allergies plus stomach acid in the sinuses, that's great.

I didn't get down anything solid until that Wednesday.

It was a total systems cascade failure all in a row of total crap. I'm unlucky, you might not be. But I seriously recommend avoiding popcorn.

I'm in bed as I type, I haven't ate popcorn in a long time, not the way i did today, usually i would have about six and thats it, but i ate the whole bag because I was hungry at work, I had my band done July 12,2010..anyway i broke out into sweats and I was shaking awful. I was at work and I had to be wheeled out, my friend took me to urgent care (i was embarrassed that ppl at work seen me being wheeled in a wheel chair) and I only told a few of my co workers about my lap band. Now I have to lie and tell them ingestion and gas pains is what I had.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
