Best Low Carb Protein Shakes??

Recommended Posts

Happy Tuesday Everyone -

I start my liquid diet this Thursday, August 11th. Does anyone know the best tasting shakes out there? I need Low Carbs and Low Sugar as I am a diabetic. I do not want to spend alot of money on shakes that are aweful!

Thanks so much for your help!

I use EAS Carb Advantage and I know Muscle Milk Light also has low carbs but I'm not a huge fan of that one. Good Luck!

The "Oh Yeah" Cookies and cream is my favorite. I'm also diabetic, and had no problems at all :)

Good luck!

Hi Dawn,

I use powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Original chocolate - 20 grams of Protein, no carbs, no sugars - taste just like chocolate milk (unjury.com). I also use nectar (I purchase through Amazon.com) - Fuzzy Navel. My doctor makes me mix my Protein powder with just Water but I'm three weeks post op and have used Almond Unsweetened Milk with my Unjury powder - yummy! For something quick, I don't know if you have a Trader Joe's out where you are but I found canned Pure Protein, high protein, no carbs - the cans come in Chocolate or vanilla and come in two versions of protein 21 g or 34 g. Best of luck.

I like Premiere shakes from costco. 30 grams Protein I think. I usually get chocolate, but vanilla I like too. Muscle Milk I didn't like. I also use Protein Powder from my Dr that mixes with anything. I add it to regular milk sometimes. I have a shake in between meals sometimes for a snack or for a quick meal. With kiids and busy, I don't always have time to sit and chew for a long time. I keep those shakes around all the time to make sure I get adequate protein esp on busy days. Thanks.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
