Lap Band Slipped!!

Recommended Posts

i had a slip 3 months after i was banded, it was soooo bad, omg the pain, I got stuck, and threw up, im sure thats what did it, but then i dry heaved for hours b4 i was rushed to my Dr'soffice at 9pm, he unfilled me , and that did nothing for the pain, then gave me a xray ans saw my slip. Sent me right to the hospital for emergancy repair OR removal. I would know know till i woke up from surgery that he just fixed the slip. i remember asking the minute i opened my eyes if i had my band, and i did.

my slip was my fault, i ate something with my hand , after a fill. i was 7.5 cc.

but i lived through it ! i was alwasy carefull b4 the slip but i was pms ing and could not get food in my mouth fast enough lol

Update!

After all of my fill was taken out all of the reflux symptoms disappeared, which has been very nice. Obviously I was overfilled. I was at about 7.25 out of a large 10 cc band. The reflux started when I went up to 7.

So anyway, yesterday I had another upper GI. The band went back into place!!!! No surgery needed!! My doc refilled me up to 4 and said we won't go as high as 5 or 6.

What great news! I am so happy that your band went back into place!!! I am hoping mine will behave and go back into place too.

Do you never eat with your hand?! OMG, I eat some foods by hand, was never told not to. Or was it that you were eating way too fast? My band is slipped and I think it's from my many stuck/vomiting episodes. I am glad your band is back in place and you're doing well. : ) How was the repair recovery compared to the original lap band surgery recovery?

I've been PBing and sliming a lot lately, and I'm worried about my band being slipped. I've been doing a lot of research about the latest plication methods thats kind of like a hybrid band/sleeve operation. If I'm slipped, I might try to get insurance approved for that. I've gotten so skinny I can see the entire outline of my port, and if I take my shirt off infront of people (Something I really want to do) people iwll wonder what it is...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
