Hi everyone! I have two questions for all of you banders. the first is I am finding it very hard not to eat at night my husband works on the weekends and I am all by myself. After I put the kids to bed I am bored and lonely and all I want to do is eat! Please any ideas or surggestions would be greatly appreciated! Also I am so gassy and bloated everytime I eat I am 8 months post op and wondering if anyone else experiences this. Thanks!

I make popcorn in a microwave bowl from Target especially for popcorn then use the Parkay spray on it. Some ppl can't tolerate popcorn but it is slider food for me!!!

I am a night muncher, too, so I feel for you.

Good luck,

Mimi

I struggle with night eating too. Hubby is a pastor so our hours are wonky at best. Late nights are the time we have together and we both have a habit of snacking. Now that I'm banded, I am fighting with all I have to try to get off the vicious cycle. The 1st thing I did was get rid of all junk food. If hubby wants junk, he has to go get it and eat it himself. And it has to contain gluten. (I have Celiac Disease - gluten makes me VERY sick). If it isn't in the house, I can't eat it!

I keep sugar free Popsicles in the freezer for weak moments as well as fresh veggies. And I drink, drink, drink!

I may not do this perfectly, but I'm getting better every day!

HTH

Oh and I make sure to get plenty of Protein each day - it really does help!

I use a chocolate Protein Shake (Total Lean GNC) with ice cubes it the blemder along with 1/2 a banana=blend up! I would advise using half of the Protein shake because it makes a lot. Then I put a dollop of LF cool whip and squirt a teeny dizzle of SF Smucker cho. Syrup. This is SO yummy and filling!!!! If you don't have GNC's shake (which I like because it has 23 Vitamins and high protein and is thinner than other shakes) you can use carnation instant Breakfast packets and skim milk. It's like a milk shake!

I am posting another one of my favs-slice a 1/2 of banana (or fruit of your choice)in a mug, add 1 teaspoon of Peanut Butter (optional). SF choc pudding and a little bit of cool whip.. OMG-this is SO good!

Or get mini vanilla Nilla Cookies (they are not many calories ) and I put 3 0r 4 minis in a mug with 3 thin slices of banana and top with SF vanilla pudding cup (60 calorie kind), a dollop of cool whip!

I find brushing my teeth after dinner helps end my eating for the day. There is something about that mint taste that curbs my desire to eat more. Try it, it may help. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
