One of the best things that I ever did for myself

Best ting I ever did!

I'm so happy that I made the decision almost 1 year ago to start the journey to get the Lap-Band. I have lost 60.5 lbs since my surgery on April 6th (4 months yesterday). I feel great! When I was on WW it took me almost a year and a half to lose 65 lbs.

I was nervous too but I have to say it was so much better than I could have imagined. I went in at 6, surgery was at 7 or so and I was on my way home at 12. I had hardly any pain. It almost was as if I didn't have anything done. I know that everyone is different but that was my experience. Good luck to you! Just remember to do everything that they tell you to do. That will be to your benefit.

Same here.....best decision I've made for myself. Only 2 weeks post op....lost 14 lbs and feel teriffic. Surgery not bad at all....I was expecting much worse. Little pain but very tolerable. Hope things continue to go smoothly. CAT

I agree. I am so glad I had the surgery. I am now down to 215! The best part is, my menstrual cycle returned. I haven't had it since I was tweleve. I thought it would return when I got under 200! Wow it is a unexplainable feeling to have the knowledge I can now reproduce. It made me cry (of course it could have been the hormones too LOL)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
