ChelseaM 1 Posted August 5, 2011 So i'm seeing a lot of posts about a a liquid pre op diet and I'm starting to panic because I don't think my dr. put me on one. I'm only on a liquid diet today as my surgery is tomorrow. My dr. said I should try to lose weight but he didn't put me on any specific diet plan....did I miss something?? cakegirl 12 Posted August 6, 2011 Different surgeons will have different recommendations and preferences, and it will also vary on the patient. I have seen a few people who have just had to have liquid the day before the surgery. Others have to do Atkins for a few weeks, etc. It just depends on the surgeon, and as long as you follow your surgeon's advice, you'll be fine.

Thats a relief to hear I was very worried I had messed up somehow!
bellybuster 1 Posted August 7, 2011 Chelsea i was thinking the same thing. i am getting banded on Wednesday, and I rememeber when I took his seminar he said that there would be a 1 week liquid diet before surgery to shrink the liver. When I scheduled my surgery 2 weeks ago he told me to eat normally, not to gain weight and do an all liquid diet the day before surgery. Good luck. Let me know how everything went. winifred76 1 Posted August 8, 2011 So could anyone provide a detailed description of the liquid diet? What to eat, how much and how often? Thanks
