I am having some trouble getting all my Protein in. Is anyone using a protein pill or suppliment that isn't a shake or bar just protein without any food with it?

Uh..there's no such thing as a Protein pill. Protein comes from food..maybe try Protein Shots. Dunno. Why wouldn't you just eat lean meats, eggs, cheese, yogurt, etc?

I used this while on my pre op diet... It's creamy chicken Soup from herbalife. 80 calories & 16 grams of protein. not a bad price either:

There are some Protein supplements in liquid that you can get sufficient amount of Protein from, the protein tabs that are available don't offer much protein, you'd be better off eating a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. I love my fat free prairie farms cottage cheese, it's 80 calories and 14g of protein. I'm not allowed any dairy except cottage cheese due to the high protein content. String cheese or cheese cubes are also a good option. I buy most of my supplements from Bariatric Choice and they do have a Liquid Protein supplement you could look into...They also have others, this was just the first one that popped up. It also was the only one with 5 stars saying it did taste pretty good.

You could also look into Protein Shots, but I think they taste pretty nasty.

Try getting some flavorless Protein Powder (GNC has a good one) and mixing it in with your food. Also, dietdirect.com has a lot of high Protein Snacks that aren't very filling (puddings, Soups, and even pretzels).

Try refried Beans. They are very high in Protein and go down pretty easily even when your band is a little tight.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
