I AM SOO HUNGRY :(

Recommended Posts

TODAY IS ONLY DAY TWO OF MY liquid diet AND I HAVE A HEADACHE AND I HAVE REALLY BAD HUNGER PAINS!! I DONT KNOW IF IM GOING TO B ABLE TO MAKE IT THESE NEXT TWO WEEK!:( TODAY AT WORK I CHEATED...NOT TOO BAD.. I WAS AT A MEETING AND THEY HAD A BOWL FULL OF Snacks. I POPED MY GUN JUST LIKE THEY TOLD ME AT THE DRS OFFICE. ( TO TRICK THE BRAIN) BUT AFTER AN HOUR I WAS STILL HUNGRY.. SO I REACHED IN TO THE BOWL....AND GRABED A MIX T RAIL BAR. (OK, IM NOT THAT MAD AT MYSELF BECAUSE IF THIS HAD BEEN LAST WEEK I WOULD HAVE GONE FOR THE BAG OF chips OR OREO Cookies ) BUT INSTEAD I CHOSE SOMETHING HEALTHY!. M SCARED THAT IF I CHEAT ONCE IN A WHILE MY LIVER WILL NOT SRHINK AND I MAY NOT GET MY SX ON THE 18TH..

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO HELP WITH THE HUNGER. THE shakes ARE NOT BAD, THEY TASTE GOOD. THEY JUST DONT FILL ME UP!

OR WILL MY LIVER SHRINK AS LONG AS I DONT EAT FATTY FOODS?

I'm on day 5 of the liquid diet. It is tough. The shakes do a pretty good job of taking the hunger away for me, but when the hunger creeps back in I make sure I am getting in enough Water, crystal light, and I was told I could have sugar free Jello.

Keeping my eye out for other tips.

Just curious, what do you mean" poped my gun " ?

Hang in there!!!

You should follow your doctors orders. They are his/her rules for a reason. If you break the rules now, you set yourself up for more rule breaking later.

Cheating on day two is not good. Get back on the wagon right now. You can do this! You deserve to have a successful experience!

I'm rooting for you!

The first few days were the hardest for me. As time went on it got easier. Try not to cheat or you may not get to the point where it is easier. As time goes by and you don't fill you body with junk you will stop craving the junk....well at least that's what happened to me. I'm not saying you won't want it if you look at it or smell it, but you won't crave it. Be stong. I know it's hard, but it's worth it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
