suzan72704 2 Posted January 31, 2006 Hi all, My PCP just called me and said that my B 12 is very very low, almost not there. She told me to take 1000 mg of B 12 a day. She told me it could be my food intake is low or that since the B 12 is made in the stomach that the band may be causing the lack of production. Has anyone else had this happen:confused: . I take my Flinstones, but guess it is not enough. Any suggestions would be helpful.:clap2: Thanks so much Suzan
Jammin & Losin 1 Posted January 31, 2006 Have you considered getting a B12 shot each month maybe in addition to taking some B12 ??
vinesqueen 2 Posted January 31, 2006 I don't see how the band could be interfering with the B12 production. My guess is that it's a diet thing.
Alexandra 55 Posted January 31, 2006 At one point I was told my B levels were pretty low, borderline deficient. Since then I've been taking a B complex in addition to my Multivitamin. Nothing to worry about--just do it!
piercedqt78 658 Posted January 31, 2006 I use a B-12 complex that you put under your tongue. It gives me loads of energy and I feel better when I remember to take it. I forgot it on our last vacation and I called and had some delivered to my resort. I have my whole family using it and they all love it. I can't remember the name of it at the moment but I get it at Walmart and it is in a yellow bottle. ~Mandy
Jachut 487 Posted January 31, 2006 It would be a diet thing - especially since meat can be difficult to eat. There is no way that on the restricted diet bandsters eat long term that all of us dont get low in things every now and then.
La_madam 20 Posted January 31, 2006 Yep happened to me..I had to take B12 also, problem is when I had a good fill I had to cut the pill into tiny pieces to get it down..
Jammin & Losin 1 Posted January 31, 2006 I use the Rexall sublingual B12 Lozenges...they melt in 30 seconds. I get them at Wal-Mart.
showboatgirl 0 Posted March 2, 2006 My dietian told me to take a multi Vitamin, 1000 mg of Calcium and a B12 tablet daily (or get a B12 shot each month). I have done it since the second week after surgery. All of my bloodwork has been fine.
asbrown 0 Posted March 3, 2006 A lack of B-12 is common especially amongst woman and vegetarians without bands. Mood swings, memory lose, tiredness are some of my common symptoms that I need a "boost" of B.
La_madam 20 Posted March 3, 2006 I had the same thing happen. I take a B100 complex everyday..you may have to cut it up or get a liquid version to get it down.
NewSho 20 Posted March 3, 2006 Guilty too A B12 supplement is a good thing for most Bandsters I'd think. Plus when my B12 is low, I really do feel 'tired, sluggish, and like I'm dragging along.' So that's a good reason to try to add it to our daily diets. Happy Band Journeys To All...
I'llsucceed 1 Posted March 3, 2006 I have been bruising alot more than normal could this mean I am defiecent in b-12? Or is it more likely to be Iron? OK this is an addendumto my post: I logged off & went to eat Breakfast & turned on the TV & there was this add for Vitamin B-12!! Holly COW - I was like thats is so weird!!!! SO you know I had to order the stuff--LOLLOL Its by the company TRIVITA. I order 2 months worth- it wasn't cheap $50 for 2 mnths includes s/h. But I'll try it & than switch to a less expensive one after if it helps. It also has a 60 day full money back guarentee (cool) It is a disolvable pill that is placed under the tongue & contains Folic Acid & B-12 & B-6. Sounds good:D Anyone try it before???
