I was banded yesterday. The dr said I have lots of air inside and I would hurt for a few days. Besides gas-x and walking around the house, is there anything else. The pain is bad.

Try laying on your side with arms extended over your head one side for 30 mins then switch to other it helps relieve the gas it worked for me, this advice came from a RN hope it works for you tooo.

Try not to lay on your back for too long. Laying on my side, sitting, and walking helped me a lot. The gas pain should subside within 48 hours after surgery. A little pain now, but believe me you won't be disappointed.

My gas pain lasted about 3 days. When you're not up walking around you can move your arms around while sitting and the movement will help you body to absorb the gas just like when you're up walking around. You can also use a heating pad and keep using the pain meds the doctor gave you too. I noticed I had a hard time burping but found that if I stand up straight or sit up straight and then flex my stomach slightly while slowly bending at the waist it forces out the gas and gave me HUGE relief. Hope this helps. :)

I used my back heat/massager chair pad (bought at bed bath and beyond). Took my mind off the gas pains.

I'm 3 days post op and it was like magic last night when the gas pains subsided some. I think a lot of it had to do with the pain meds. I couldn't take them at first because I had so much swelling but on e my surgeon took all my Fluid out of my band yesterday morning most of the swelling went down last night and I was able to take my pain meds. I felt great! I helped my husband clean the kitchen and everything. So here are my suggestions... Keep taking pain meds... At least at night before bed. Walk a lot. It really does help. I had my husband rub my shoulders and that really helped. Use a heating pad. Helps tremendously! And then take warm showers. The warm Water feels good on your shoulders. My gas was hurting so bad that I cried a couple times. For my first three nights I had to sleep in my wing back chair with pillows behind me so I was sitting STRAIGHT up.... Not fun! But it really does get better. Since last night I've been able to sleep on my side. And the previous poster is right... It will all be worth it. I'm down 10 lbs in less than 4 days! Who would have thought :-) good luck. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

My surgeon didn't put any Fluid in my band. I'm just supposed to get used to it first.

But the gas pains is the worst. It would be cake if it wasn't for the damn gas.

Tks guys. It seams to be getting better. My Sholders, back and neck are sore from being in one spot for too long because of the way I have to sleep. When can we take Advil or Aleve pills?

I was told the day after surgery u could have ibuprofen. What a relief. That actually helps more with the gas than the oxycodone. Glad you're feeling a tad better.

I was told that post lap band you can never take Ibuprofen of NSAIDS, Aleve, Advil, etc. Only take tylenol and what was prescribed for you, Tylenol #3 or Lortab. For the gas pain, it didnt hit me until POD # 3-5; The first couple of days, I walked every hour for 5 mins around the house and I think that kept it at bay. But I slacked and on the night of POD #3 when I had been sitting on the couch for tooooo long, I paid severly! I finally had the Horrible gas pains that I read about! I walked alot and had my bf hit me on my back (burp me lol) and used my heating pad on my upper chest shoulder area. It really did help but sometimes the gas would just move around and not come out until early a.m hours like 3 or 4 am!! But boy was I a happy camper! Never been so glad to expel gas!! ( I know gross, but it is the honest truth! ) Just dont put the heating pad on or near your incisions. Good Luck. I am not POD #8 and No gas pains for a few days, thanks goodness I think they are gone!

The gasx is ok but not for long. I am day 3 post op and the gas can somtimes be crippling. I can be in mid sentence and have to stop to do breathing exercises. Walking helps the pain for me also.

Sit up and GET A HEAT PACK (or 3!) - They work miracles for gas pain!

I agree with alygurl! Sometimes the gas is so crippling and a couple minutes after putting a heating pad over it I feel much better. I told my husband last night inwosh the made a heating pad vest! I would wear it all the time! Haha also, those thermocare heating pad sticky things that come in packs of three are pretty good too. They don't get as hot as the electrical heating pad but they're good for when you're tired of sitting. I put one on with shoulder and one on my mod to lower back. Definitely helps.

Heating pad and crushed vicodin/percocet. Lortab didn't touch mine.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
