manderoo 2 Posted August 4, 2011 I'm on week 5 after surgery and feel great. Have been back to aquafit 3 times this week. I do notice my stomach bounces up a lot during fitness but it is not painful. Is it too soon to start aquafit?
clarebear08 0 Posted August 4, 2011 I was told, 7-10 days post op for swimming and 4 weeks for the gym, I think aquafit is a combo of the two so by my docs rules you're safe- best to check with your own though! But, failing that- if it doesn't hurt you it should be okay. Have fun!!
JJLESLIE 0 Posted August 29, 2011 I'm on week 5 after surgery and feel great. Have been back to aquafit 3 times this week. I do notice my stomach bounces up a lot during fitness but it is not painful. Is it too soon to start aquafit? I got back into lap swimming about 6 weeks out of surgery. But, my stomach around the band area gave me a very hollow/nausea feeling. I swam for about 20 minutes, and felt that was more than enough (and I am a distance swimmer)... I hit the gym to work on toning my abs, and redeveloping the muscles in my core (also added to weight loss), and found that after about a month of weights the feeling in the Water went away. Now (9 months after surgery) I do a combination of swimming and weight training to maintain core muscles.
honk 780 Posted September 12, 2011 My doctor said I could go back to lap swimming 2 weeks post op which I did. Water aerobics may be more difficult esp. if you are doing a lot of abs work.
