I'm in with the points thing. What you have sounds great. Maybe 2 points for every pound you lose!! Let me know if you need help with it!

Have any of you tried Propel with Calcium? I like it... it helps me with two of my points I get my Water in since it's a low calorie Water beverage and it has calcium in it. I'm still trying to figure out how much and actually I'm still taking my calcum chew but this helps since I don't drink much milk.

Oh yeah the calories are only 20 per bottle.

I love Propel! I try to not drink it TOO much, lol, but it's awesome! I love my Calcium chew too, lol, I'm not giving it up! Wonder if you can OD on calcium, rofl.

I'll work something up for the challenge... we've still got a few days before the 1st, we'll have it start then. Be thinking of things you want to add!

They told me that I would not be able to use the Calcium chews....because they would get stuck. Is that not true? I will start taking them!

I take Spring Valley from Walmart (they're the generic form of Viactiv). I LOVE the caramel ones... delicious! They're sugary & chewable, so I'm sure they dissolve. I do count the calories, heh, like 20 per day, I think.

I love the caramel too and I've never had them stuck. I'm really tight right now and having to baby everything I put in my mouth. The caramel goes down ok... (so does a Frosty.. ..ohhhh that's off topic though)

Gosh Tammy hope, that you are ok....Your in my prayers.

Ok...I woke up with a black tongue this morning and thought my stomache was bleeding..I thought I was going to die. I called my Dr and come to find out I had taken Pepto the night before and it turned my tongue black. It is a common side effect. Who knew? That has never happened to me. It is funny now, but at the time when I first saw it I thought I was in some serious trouble.

Oh my goodness, Stacey! I'd be sure I was dying!! Black tongue = the plague or something, doesn't it? LOL. I'm glad it's just pepto!

Have you heard back on your results from Monday, Stac? It's been 48 hours already!! Heh. :(

How's your fill going, Cashley? You figuring it out? Or have you gone all liquids? You going to get a slight unfill?

Tammy!! What's up hon? I'm praying for you!! Hang in there & know that no matter what, we've got your back! Love ya! (( Hugs!! ))

Mikey & I are being challenged right now as well, **sigh**. Stupid colds! We keep each other awake with our coughing & nighttime meds seem to make us hyper instead of sleepy, augh!!! This is the 3rd day that I've had like 3-4 hours of sleep. I'm starting to take naps out of desperation... which of course makes for more issues at night.

So I'm spacey & depressed & silly, lol. If I say something mean today, lol, forgive me... I honestly didn't mean it! :Banane33: And probably won't remember saying it, heh. Ooooo, it's like a license to scream! Yippee!! :woot:

LOL - yes Stacy, I did know that Pepto will do that! I learned it the hard/scary way! I was in Mexico for the first time on vacation. The resort had all these little signs about the Water being purified, bla bla bla, safe to drink the water bla bla - so we did. BIG mistake! Our whole party got sick, vomiting, diarrhea the whole works. I took some Pepto and a few hours later I had the black tongue. I thought I was dying. I was going to die in Mexico from the black death and all because I believed those little signs!

Needless to say when I went for surgery in Mexico I was terrified. I wouldn't eat anything that wasn't super hot (boiled) and I used only bottle water the whole time I was there - I even rinsed my tooth brush with bottled water!

That first sight of the black tongue is scary huh?

Does anyone know what causes a lot of gas and how to prevent or stop it? I have gas all the time at both ends. Blush! It's driving me crazy. Also, what is a "PB"?

Have fun Julie! Give Mickey a tickle for me.

Stacy that's good news with the ultrasound. Good luck with the C-Scan.

Happy....are you banded? Have you kept track of when it happens and what you ate just before it?

Sherry, Yes, I'm banded but I haven't kept track of what gives me the gas. I think everything gives me gas, but I'll start making notes. Thanks.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
